چکیده

Paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (SVT) is commonly produced by two mechanisms: atrial reentry via an A-V nodal pathway or a rapid firing ectopic focus. Studies in the experimental animal and in human beings with sustained SVT have sbown that the site for reentry appears to be the upper A-V junction. This report documents an unusual site d reentry in a patient with recurrent SVT. Progressive intraventricular conduction delay with prolongation of the H-V interval resulted in initial conduction delay and then sustained reentry. This strongly suggests that, in man, the distal A-V conducting system may participate in a reentry circuit producing and perpetuating SVT.

Bundle Branch Reentrant Ventricular Tachycardia

Bundle branch reentrant (BBR) tachycardia is an uncommon form of ventricular tachycardia (VT) incorporating both bundle branches into the reentry circuit. The arrhythmia is usually seen in patients with an acquired heart disease and significant conduction system impairment, although patients with structurally normal heart have been described. Surface ECG in sinus rhythm (SR) characteristically ...

Marshall bundle reentrant atrial tachycardia after the Cox-Maze IV procedure: The last barrier of the conduction pathway between the coronary sinus and left atrium

A 74-year-old woman who developed atrial tachycardia following the Cox-Maze IV procedure underwent catheter ablation. The reentrant circuit included the coronary sinus (CS), Marshall bundle (MB), distal MB-left atrial (LA) connection, and anterolateral mitral annulus. The distal MB-LA connection was the last barrier in the conduction pathway between the CS and the left atrium.

Reentrant Ventricular Arrhythmias

The effect of the autonomic system on conduction disorders in the infarction zone (IZ) and related reentrant ventricular arrhythmias (RVA) in the late myocardial infarction period in the dog was studied utilizing averaged recordings of the reentrant pathways from the epicardial surface of the IZ. Vagal (V) stimulation was found to have no significant direct electrophysiologic effect while sympa...

Vagally induced block and delayed conduction as a mechanism for circus movement tachycardia in frog atria.

Episodes of tachycardia induced by strong vagal stimulation in spontaneously beating isolated atria of frog (Rana temporaria) were studied with multielectrode mapping technique. These episodes were inducible in 19 of 39 preparations. The arrhythmia started several seconds after cessation of vagal stimulation strong enough to cause sinus arrest, without electrical stimulation of the myocardium. ...

Characteristics of the temporal and spatial excitable gap in anisotropic reentrant circuits causing sustained ventricular tachycardia.

The excitable gap of a reentrant circuit has both temporal (time during the cycle length that the circuit is excitable) and spatial (length of the circuit that is excitable at a given time) properties. We determined the temporal and spatial properties of the excitable gap in reentrant circuits caused by nonuniform anisotropy. Myocardial infarction was produced in canine hearts by ligation of th...
